Notes:
Double Milk Stout
22oz Bottle
8.0% ABV
Appearance:
Pours the darkest brown to black…mocha colored head sits prominently on
top, all rich and thick…tons of tight bubbles make head look creamy and foamy…a
very dense color, even along the edges…thins to a nice layer…this is a good
looking brew…(4.25/5)
Smell: Creamy
lactose aroma jumps right out of the glass and actually I could smell it as
soon as I popped the cap…roasted malts, oatmeal and a light dry chocolate are
also apparent…it’s got a very rich, creamy, chocolate desert cake aroma that’s
fantastic! Very malt driven, subtle airy, citrus hops in the way
background…wonderful! (4.25/5)
Taste: Creamy,
rich chocolate cake taste, much like the nose…roasted malts, dry chocolate,
oatmeal and tons of milky creaminess…it’s not overly sweet, more like roasted
and earthy tone dominant…really there’s nothing exotic about the flavor, but
what I do have here is amazing…as it warms, more of the roasted malt and coffee
bitterness come through along with a touch of alcohol…fantastic! (4.25/5)
Mouthfeel:
Medium to heavy body…carbonation fluffs up bringing a cloud of milky,
chocolaty, roasted malts to the palate…chewy, rich, creamy…a tinge of citrus
bitterness and roasted malts linger well into the after taste…one sip lasts
minutes…(4.25/5)
Overall: This
is a fantastic brew, worthy of it’s high rating…out of the fridge, this thing
taste like a milk chocolaty desert from heaven…this is the first time drinking
this brew and I’m wishing I had another in the fridge or closet…I typically try
and steer clear of the $10 bombers, but this is worth every penny…this is my
first foray into 18th Street Brewing, but if this in indicative of
what they are producing over there, it certainly won’t be my last…super highly
recommended if you can find one (brewed just once), Hunter is a can’t miss milk
stout for the beer aficionado…(4.25/5)
Score:
(4.25/5)
