Southern Tier Creme Brulee Stout

Southern Tier Brewing Co.  Lakewood, NY

Notes:
Imperial Stout
22oz Bottle
9.6% ABV

Appearance:  Pours black with awesome mocha brown cascade within…khaki colored head that is pinky thick and luscious…(4.25/5)

Smell:  Vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, custard, candy, dark chocolate, milk chocolate…it’s all in there…this thing is making my mouth water…YUM!!! (5/5)

Taste:  Vanilla, custard, caramel, sugar…YUM! A taste of tiramisu…it’s sweet without going overboard, though the sugar and vanilla are the dominant flavors…the malt and hops play second fiddle to all the sweet, candy flavors…has a chocolate coffee aftertaste…(4/5)

Mouthfeel:  Carbonation forms milk chocolate shake feel all over the palette…medium body, nothing overly done here…it comes, it goes, but it leaves lasting flavor…(4.25/5)

Overall:  This is good…it’s very sweet and flavorful, but it’s almost too much to still be considered a “beer”…the alcohol is covered with tremendous flavor, though I know one will do me good…i like it, but I wouldn’t make it a routine selection…it would be tough to drink more than 22 ounces in one sitting, thus the overall doesn't necessarily match up with the individual parts…(3/5)

Score:

(4.21/5)
