Flossmoor Station Rail Hopper IPA

Flossmoor Station Brewing Co.   Flossmoor, IL

Appearance:  Pours a bright, dense, hazy light caramel brown...head is tight, finger thick and just off white..

Smell:  Full of citrus hops...I'm getting grapefruit and light pineapple in particular, with a strong caramel (mildly sweet) malt backbone...nice...

Taste:  Yum! Tons of flavor without feeling heavy...caramel malts are very apparent up front...surprisingly so...second and third phases are dominated with fresh, zesty hops...tons of grapefruit and resiny pine bite...bite lingers, watering my mouth...some earthy tones show more as i continue to drink...a fresh flavor overall...

Mouthfeel:  Light to medium body with medium carbonation...it fluffs up nicely bringing zesty lemon and grapefruit (slightly sour) bitterness to the palate...brew is crisp and finishes with tons of piney bite that lasts well through the after taste...

Overall:  This is a solid brew, one of the better American IPA's I've had in a while...flavor us light, crisp and full of bite and bitterness, I could easily belly up to the bar and put a few of these away...really a wonderful brew, they sell it by the growler and in 22oz at the bar...this one brew is worth a trip out here...it was so good, i stayed and had a second...yum!

Score:  (4/5)
