Sierra Nevada Northern Hemisphere Harvest

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.   Chico, CA

Notes:
I.P.A.
12oz Bottle
6.7% ABV

Appearance:  Pours a golden copper color…Nicely transparent, a very clean looking brew with little bubble action inside…head is full of tiny bubbles and is about a pinky finger thick…it’s an off white color…a nice, polished looking brew…(4/5)

Smell:  Hmm…I’m first getting some piney bite, with a bit of peppery/rye…there’s a definite sharpness to this brew…malts are earthy and lightly pale/sweet…the more I smell, the stronger the hoppy influence on my nose is…it’s not overly bitter, though I’m detecting some solid grassy/earthy tones…there’s also a light perfuminess happening here…nice…(3.75/5)

Taste:  Hmm (again)…this thing is very yummy! Piney, earthy, grassy bite and bitterness right off the bat, followed closely by a earthy/peppery/rye malt…very well balanced…thankfully it’s not overly grassy as the nose predicts, it’s definitely dry hopped…rich, creamy flavor…a very drinkable brew…(4/5)

Mouthfeel:  Light to medium body…carbonation is low to medium…it does fluff up bringing some piney bite and grassy bitterness to the palate…mildly creamy and rich, this brew settles on the palate fantastically…there’s a bitterness that stays into the after taste, but it’s by no means a palate wrecker…leaves me wanting more…(4/5)

Overall:  Yum! This is a great brew…I love drinking fresh, hoppy beer and this definitely meets those two categories…Sierra Nevada is so smart for making a seasonal brew comprised of Northern Hemisphere grown hops…very balanced and full of flavorful, yet not overly bitter hops…I wish this came in a six pack, ‘cause I’d scoop one up in a heart beat…as it is, a bomber or two of this brew is well worth the purchase…perfect for hanging out with friends or chillin’ on the couch, Sierra Nevada strikes again! (4.25/5)

Score:
(3.97/5)
