Saugatuck Singapore I.P.A.

Saugatuck Brewing Co.   Douglas, MI

Notes:
American I.P.A.
12oz Bottle
7.0% ABV
72 IBUs

Appearance:  Pours a nice orangish/golden color…very inviting…some bubbles, but not many and there is little to no head…(3.5/5)

Smell:  Super citrusy…very orange and grapefruit dominant…that’s really all I can smell…(3.5/5)

Taste:  Wow…that is tasty…it’s citrusy, but the piney hops and subtle malts balance it out very nicely…it’s not lemony, it’s orangey/grapefruity, which does differentiate this citrus American IPA from the lot in this category…crisp and smooth, I don’t taste the higher ABV this one has…(4/5)

Mouthfeel:  Light and nicely carbonated…some citrus linger and a bit of bitterness in the after taste but leaves the mouth refreshed with it’s crisp flavor…(3.75/5)

Overall:  I like this beer…I’ve gone through a bunch of IPA’s and AIPA’s and this one definitely stands out from the others…while it does have all the classic fixins of a AIPA, the grapefruit and orange flavors are unique, balancing out the hops and alcohol…it’s refreshing, flavorful, distinct and 7% ABV…feelin’ good, lookin’ good! (4/5)

Score:

(3.77/5)
