Two Brothers Monarch

Two Brothers Brewing Co.   Warrenville, IL

Notes:
Belgian White Ale
12oz Bottle
4.5% ABV

Appearance:  Pours a golden straw yellow…hazy, though fairly transparent, I can see a few bubbles bubbling up…head is white and very thin, lacking…looks like a summertime brew, very light and airy…(2.75/5)

Smell:  Wheat, coriander, orange and lemon peel and yeast show strongly…has all of the classic white Belgian smells, nothing out of the ordinary for this style…very light, fresh and zesty…(3.5/5)

Taste:  Straight up Belgian white ale…much like the nose, strong flavors of wheat, coriander, orange peel and yeast…it’s a very light and fresh taste…some grassiness, lemon peel and floral spices also present…as it warms, floral and lemon peel bitterness does become a larger part of the overall flavor…a very straight forward taste here…(3.5/5)

Mouthfeel:  Light body with light to medium carbonation…it does fluff up a bit bringing wheat, coriander and very light lemon peel bitterness to the palate…light, refreshing and ends wet...wheat and spice in the after taste…(3.5/5)

Overall:  A great beer for the summer months, Monarch is a white Belgian ale that is light and refreshing…while being satisfying, the flavor isn’t overly unique and stays fairly confined within the pure definition of the class…it’s relatively low ABV (4.5%) makes this a perfect brew for that weekend hang out with friends in the backyard…another very drinkable brew from Two Brothers, which is really no surprise…pick some up and enjoy! (3.5/5)

Score:
(3.41/5)
