American IPA
22oz Bottle
8.5% ABV
Released annually in September
From their website:
Lupulin Rapture Incarnate! As fervent devotees of hops, we found ourselves on a quest to create a transcendental IPA capable of quenching our voracious lupulin desires. Our mantra became “unity of bitterness, hop flavor and aroma.” Enlightened, duganA IPA was born: A brutally bitter, dank, piney and resinous ale designed for those seeking a divine hop experience.
Appearance:
Pours a fantastic golden orange…dense, not overly transparent, though I can
see some bubble action in the middle (it does settle down after initial pouring
making it clearer)…a nice layer of just off-white head formed and maintained…tons
of sediment floating about as well…(4.5/5)
Smell: Floral
hops, tangerine, grapefruit, orange, pineapple…fresh and zesty…pale malts…”inviting”
doesn’t tell the whole story, my mouth is now watering…(4/5)
Taste:
Awesome! Tons of citrus
hops, much like the nose…I’m tasting grapefruit, orange, mandarin, smooth pale
malts…it’s fresh and lively…a nice, piney resin flavor happening here, tingling
the outside of my tongue…some floral hops bitterness in the finish…exceptional…(4.5/5)
Mouthfeel: Smooth,
medium body…great carbonation…oil/resin on my palette…some bitterness and a
little dry in the after taste…(4.5/5)
Overall: A
great brew, well worth the price tag ($7.99 for 22oz)…the flavor is fresh and
zesty, the pale malts bring a nice backbone allowing all that hops to flourish...tons
of flavor that hide the ABV nicely, this is a great example of an exemplary west
coast IPA (or Double IPA)…citrus and piney resin leave me wanting more after
each sip, I could drink this for days…as it warms, the pale malts really do become more apparent, balancing out the flavor even more...YUM! Definitely get this again and I highly
recommended to any hop head for experimentation…(5/5)
Score:
(4.44/5)
