Wild Onion Hopslayer Double IPA

Wild Onion Brewing Co.   Lake Barrington, IL

Appearance:  Pours a light, hazy, woodsy brown with a touch of autumn orange with off white head...

Smell:  Tons of pine and citrus hops aroma in the nose...I'm also getting mildly sweet caramel malt, toffee, a bit of creaminess & some overall woodsy/earthy tones...fresh, crisp and upbeat smell, very inviting...

Taste:  This is a full flavored IIPA, with mild robust woodsy/earthy hops, complimented by pine bite & lemony/floral hops bitterness...pale caramel/toffee malts balance out nicely, but take this brew to oft trodden territory...it's a good brew, but there's nothing too unique about what's happening here...

Mouthfeel:  Has medium both with medium to lots of carbonation...fluff brings woodsy/lemon peel bitterness to the palate...mildly chewy, wet & finishes with a biting bitterness that has grassy, piney, dank and lemony tones...

Overall:  This is a solid IIPA that hasn't blown my mind, but is super drinkable & full of flavor...definitely a strong beer that is perfect for an after work un-winder...for sure, i would drink one of these again...

Score:  (4/5)
