Southern Tier Live

Southern Tier Brewing Co.   Lakewood, NY

Notes:
American Pale Ale
12oz Bottle
5.5% ABV

Appearance:  Pours a vibrant golden straw color…with tons of bubbles in the middle, it’s fairly transparent…just off white head settles thin, but does liven up a bit with some swirlin’…a good looking brew…(3.75/5)

Smell:  A very balanced smell…I’m getting light pine, orange, lemon and pineapple from the hops…very lively and fresh…malts are pale, mildly sweet, grainy, light barley, light grassy…there’s a noticeable yeast aroma as well that is light and fresh…a very vibrant smell! (4/5)

Taste:  Again, very balanced…citrus (orange, pineapple mainly) and piney hops up front, with a clean pale, mildly earthy malt backbone…it’s fresh and zesty without being a hop bomb, which is nice…there’s also some grassy bitterness, lemon zest and a floral perfuminess mixed in there, contributing to a well flavored brew…”balanced” really is the word here…(3.75/5)

Mouthfeel:  Light body with light to medium carbonation…it does fluff up a bit bringing some of that grassy bitterness and a touch of lemon zest to the palate…it’s an easy drinking brew that hits very light on the tongue…mild grassy bitterness lingers in the after taste…(3.5/5)

Overall:  This is a solid brew…with it’s relatively low ABV, 5.5%, it’s  a brew I could drink several of on a hot day and still be able to function properly…it’s got tons of light, zesty flavor that stays pleasurable to my taste buds…Southern Tier makes some quality brews and this is another success story from the brewery…this beer is perfect for summertime, outdoor engagements or hanging with friends to watch the local team’s ballgame…Enjoy! (4/5)

Score:
(3.78/5)
