Shiner FM 966 Farmhouse Ale

 Spoetzl Brewery   Shiner, TX

Notes:
Farmhouse Ale
12oz Bottle
Unknown ABV, but I suspect it can’t be more than 4.5-5%
Spring seasonal

Appearance:  Pours a clear golden straw color…mild bubble action happening…some head formed, but nothing really stuck around, just a top coating…looks lively but nothing overly impressive…(2.75/5)

Smell:  Spicy, citrus, yeast, bubblegum, sweetness, summer grass…a nice farmhouse ale smell, though it’s not overly aromatic…(3/5)

Taste:  Spicy hops balanced nicely with grassy, citrus, yeast and sweet flavors…fairly basic flavor happening here…(3/5)

Mouthfeel:  Light body, light to medium carbonation…very watery (too watery), with some floral bitterness in the after taste...refreshing to the palate…(2.5/5)

Overall:  This beer falls straight into the mediocre category…it’s got all right flavor, but the smell and mouthfeel leave a lot to be desired…this brew feels like it’s massed produced by a large “brewery” leaving quality second to putting something on the shelf…it’s super watered down leaving what flavor it does have passing over the tongue quickly and making it hard to enjoy…it’s drinkable, but I’m glad I only have one, certainly not worth picking up in six pack form…(2.25/5)

Score:
(2.79/5)
