Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Wild Ale

Lagunitas Brewing Co.   Petaluma, CA

Notes:
Belgian I.P.A.
22oz Bottle
8.8% ABV
72.5 IBUs

Appearance:  Pours a deep, transparent golden color…just off white head about an inch thick…some bubble action in the middle…very inviting…(4/5)

Smell:  Yum!  Has a classic American pale ale lightness to it…tons of citrus zing…lemon, grapefruit, orange…plenty of pale and sweet malts…(4.25/5)

Taste:  Yum!  Again, it has a classic American/west coast pale ale front…light, crisp, citrus, pale…very rich flavor, not a watery beer at all…some piney and floral hops playing subtle background notes…malt is sweet and pale and fairly robust…with all the citrus flavor happening, the malt baseline is right there holding its own, balancing out the flavor…some floral/citrus bitterness in the after taste…(4.25/5)

Mouthfeel:  Medium body, zesty, medium carbonation…nice…some bitterness…(4/5)

Overall:  I’m quickly finding my new favorite genre of beer, American or west coast pale ales…this brew is light but medium bodied, crisp, has fantastic citrus hops and enough sweet and pale malts to balance it all out…one sip leaves my mouth watering for another while still being refreshed…I love the orange, grapefruit and lemon citrus hop flavor that is so strong in this brew…I’m thankful I still have half a bottle left in the fridge, this is a good brew…(4/5)

Score:
 (4.14/5)
