Henry Weinhard's Private Reserve

Blitz-Weinhard Brewing Co.  Hood River, OR

Notes:
American Lager
12oz Bottle
4.8% ABV
15 IBUs

Appearance:  Pours a transparent yellow to golden color…white head, about a finger thick, is firm and somewhat lasting…minimal bubble action…thin and watery…(2.5/5)

Smell:  Bitter, not hoppy bitter, skunky bitter…very light wheat, kinda corny…super basic…(1.5/5)

Taste:  A light wheat and malt taste…very watery…(2/5)

Mouthfeel:  Very light and pretty crisp, but there is a surprising amount of carbonation…nothing that lasts or forms cotton candy, but it does exist and that’s saying something (for this beer)…some malty, bitter after taste, but this beer pretty much comes and goes…(2.25/5)

Overall:  Watery…I guess this is a lager, as I don’t often dabble too much into this category…it’s very watery and real basic…no flavor beyond the light wheat and corn and it doesn’t leave much of an impression on the palette…very little experimentation here, it’s just “beer”…i would suspect that most home brewers can make a similar tasting ale…if you like lagers, this one is crisp and clean and drinkable, but if you are wanting for flavor, don’t look here…(1.75/5)

Score:

(1.98/5)
